“I tried to follow the rules, but it ended up not working out very well for me around the fifth year. That’s when everything seems to go downhill. It only got worse when I had the hospital wing at my disposal.” She chuckled, helping Evan with the next present. A great deal of the little girl’s presents were clothes, along with toys. Given that a large portion of her wardrobe revolved around the Jersey Shore, Pav felt the need to remedy that. “Not all boys at Hogwarts are bad. Cormac in school is certainly not the model of what they are like.” She shook her head. “You will not. If you do that you will probably end up driving her crazy, then when she graduates, she’ll really go wild.” She laughed.
“Yeah that’s true. I think I probably broke some rules but wasn’t as crazy as the rest of everyone else. It’s kind of hard to find time to be crazy and wild when you’re out trying to defeat Voldemort.” He smirked at her. “Now the hospital wing at your disposal was fun, although Fleur did not agree, I don’t believe.” He nodded. “Well yeah, that is true. Some of them were relatively mellow. I think that Ron wanted to be a lot more wild than he really was.” He knew that she would kill him if he did that. “Well okay, that’s a good point. Look at it this way. I could never be as bad as Umbridge was and someone for the love of Merlin, obliviate me. I just compared myself to Dolores Umbridge.”
“There are exceptions to ever rule.” She shrugged her shoulders with a small smirk as she watched Delilah, Teddy, and Will tear into two toy brooms and a talking dinosaur respectively. They each seemed quite pleased with these presents before moving onto their next ones. “I like the shopping part. Admittedly, I went a bit overboard this Christmas, but I was just really excited to be home and I wasn’t sure what they needed having only been home for a few weeks. I just really wanted things to go well.” She said, looking around at the heaping mounds of wrapping paper and presents. She chuckled, “She’s really not going to have an easy time dating between you and Cormac is she?” She shook her head, “Don’t worry, I will teach her all of the ways to get around the two of you and sneak around the castle.”
“You don’t have to tell me that. I love to break rules, as you know. I spent years breaking every single rule at Hogwarts.” He laughed as he watched them all open their presents. “I don’t think there’s such thing as going overboard. We have the means to do it and if they’re happy, then that’s all that really matters. They seem to approve of all this.” He shook his head. “Oh not at all. We both know what blokes are like at Hogwarts. Granted, I was a bit too busy to get into too much trouble when it came to girls but I remember what it’s like and there’s no way she’s going to be up to some of the things that everyone else was at Hogwarts.” He gave her a look and shook his head. “No, I will if I have to go to every lesson with her and keep all the boys away. I will tell them I defeated the dark wizard of all time and could easily take them out too.”
“They are four. I don’t think they know what calmly means.” She smiled, kissing his cheek as Teddy and Delilah both looked at them hopefully, silently asking if they could begin opening their presents. “One at a time.” She told them, reaching for one of the many in Evan’s pile and placing it in front of her, trying to show her how to pull at the paper to open them. “It’s a woman thing. We rule by guilt and obligation. It’s really effective.” She smiled, nodding, “I think so too. Best Christmas.” She leaned in to kiss him, albeit briefly, before smiling against his lips at Delilah and Teddy’s rain of ‘Ewwws’.
“Well, I’m 20 and don’t always do that well with calm myself.” He smiled at her and nodded. “Yeah that’s the truth. I have my own ways of taking control of things but that’s not how you treat your children so you get to handle things like that whereas I just let you do all the shopping and just nod at everything.” He smiled at her again. “Best Christmas for sure.” He kissed her back and smiled back. “Now you all may say eww but one day, you won’t say eww. Granted, when she stops saying eww, I will be ready at the door with all sorts of spells and hexes if need be and definitely at Hogwarts because we all know that people get up to all sorts of mischief there.”
“Are you excited for Christmas, Will?” She asked, looking down at the two year old, who nodded with a great, big grin as he waited patiently for his mother to finish changing Evan and getting her dressed. He was a bit more talkative than he was a year ago, but it seemed like he still preferred to let his sisters do his talking for him, neither of which seemed to mind. “I bet everything you asked Santa for is under that tree.” She said with a smile, picking Evan up as she tugged her sweater tighter around herself and took Will’s hand, leading the two down the stairs to the living room where Delilah and Teddy were already busily sorting out their presents. “You thought let’s all just sit here would work on Christmas morning?” She asked, raising an eyebrow as she set Evan in his lap before sitting down on the other side of him.
He gave her a look that said help and then nodded. “Well it seemed like a good idea at the time. I didn’t just say let’s sit down, I said let’s sit calmly. I don’t think they were listening though. Nothing about any of this sitting down seemed to be working. They more just want to do what they want. I don’t remember being this mental as a child on Christmas but my situation was very different.” He then held Evan and smiled at her. She was nice and calm. Granted, she probably wasn’t old enough to understand Christmas. ”I don’t know how you and Brittany manage to keep them relatively calm. I have to say I’m pretty excited about Christmas too though. We’re all together as a family.”
She laughed, “Yeah, that’s not happening. Four is more than enough.” She nodded in agreement as the children crowded in around them. She sighed, brushing her fingertips over Evan’s curls. She knew she would have to get up. Teddy and Delilah wouldn’t wait long on their presents and their sense of urgency let Will know that something good was to come. She looked down at Delilah and Teddy, both of whom were practically bouncing in the middle of the bed. “Why don’t you two go sort out the presents into piles for your brother and sister and yourselves? We’ll be in there in a minute.” She told them before they both raced off, finally allowing Pav enough room to get out of bed. She picked Will up with one arm and Evan with the other. “I’m going to go change them, make sure Lilah and Teddy don’t start without us.” She smiled, glancing over her shoulder at Harry before disappearing into one of the rooms across the hall.
He was really glad she was in agreement to this whole we have enough children thing. He was kind of glad they had them all young. He then smiled when she told them to go put the presents in piles. Harry would have been more than happy to change them, instead of dealing with the masses downstairs but he figured he could handle them. He then made his way down the stairs and watched them bounce up and. “Okay how about we all just be nice and calm. They’ll be down here soon and then we can be nice and calm and as you can see, it’s going to be a great Christmas.” He was honestly wondering how he had done any of this alone. He knew how. He tended to let Brittany handle most of this but he was too happy about Christmas for him to let anything get him down. ”So, okay, as soon as they get down here, you all can do this. Let’s just all sit here.” He knew that wasn’t going to happen.
As the light poured into the bedroom window of the house, Parvati curled further against Harry’s chest and pulled up the covers to attempt to block out some of the light as she buried her face against the crook of his neck. With the coat of fresh snow that was coating the Scottish hills outside, the light reflected and magnified making everything look something akin to being located on the surface of the sun. She hummed sleepily against his skin, perfectly comfortable as she tried to go back to sleep hoping to catch a few more minutes. It couldn’t have been more than seven am but she knew it was only a matter of time before…
“It’s Christmas!” Delilah announced as she came bounding into the bedroom and jumped into bed with them. Will was hot on her tails, dragging his blanket behind him as he climbed into the bed and attempted to get in between the group of them. Teddy and Evan were the next through the door. The oldest of the pack had stopped to help Evan out of her crib and was now helping her onto the bed before crawling up himself.
“The bigger bed was definitely the better choice. I don’t think we have much choice but getting up now,” she said, slowly pushing herself up into a sitting position as the kids filed in around them. She had to chuckle as Delilah found her way onto her lap and once again announced that it was Christmas. “I know sweetie, I heard you.” She said. “Did Santa come and bring you presents?” She asked curiously, knowing her daughter would have checked the tree before coming upstairs.
Harry had wound up stuck at work quite a while on Christmas Eve but had managed to get home to help Parvati with the presents. He had tried doing that the muggle way at first but got frustrated quickly and wound up just charming his share of the presents wrapped. He really loved magic. He had the day off for Christmas, barring any huge catastrophe which was something he didn’t foresee happening. They could just let him have a normal Christmas with his family, especially after everything they had been through this year. They deserved to have a happy Christmas and he wanted a happy one too. He curled up closer to his wife, not wanting to think about how they were fixing to be attacked. He was fairly certain that the forces fixing to attack were more scary than the dark forces he dealt with regularly. Then it happened. Yes, this was frightening but he wouldn’t have traded it for anything in the world honestly.
“I can’t even imagine if we didn’t have a big bed. This right there is the perfect reason we can never try to have more children. There is not room for any more children on this bed.” He then watched as the cats got on the bed. “Oh I spoke too soon. I think we have to get up or Delilah may actually die.” Harry sat up and blinked, and then grabbed his glasses, and now he could actually see the army on the bed. “Yeah, we definitely need to get up. I’m fairly certain there’s no other option.”
Her body trembled under his touch, her fingers buried in his hair as she brought him closer, pulling him into another kiss. Her head dipped back against the pillows as he moved her legs, letting them wrap around his hips once again. Her eyes closed, a small blissful moan falling from her lips as he moved into her. She looked up at him, her eyes locking with his as he pulled back. Her body lifted against his, her hips rocking against his slowly. It was exactly what she needed to ground herself in the new reality, the connection, the fact that she was really here. She responded instantly when he kissed her, leaning closer to him.
He looked into her eyes more and he bit down on his lip before rocking his hips against hers. He kissed her more passionately and moved his tongue out against her lips and against hers as he moved a bit quicker but still at a steady rhythm and he moved to closer to her, not wanting to be away from her in any way. They had spent so much time apart and he didn’t want to be apart from her anymore and he couldn’t help but sigh against her lips as he rotated his hips against her, moving closer and closer to her as the moved together. He had needed this more than her knew and what he had needed was her all along.
Her lips matched his in intensity, her fingers threading into his hair as he finished removing his pants. The only obstacle left in their way being her thin, lace knickers though she suspected they would be gone in a matter of moments the way his hands moved over her. Her legs untangled from his body, lifting her hips from the bed to make things easier for him. She nodded when he spoke, now was not the time to discuss how that wasn’t a possibility anymore. She didn’t want to trash the mood, though she was sure nothing could possibly affect how much she wanted to connect with him. Her lips found his once again as her hand patted the night stand blindly for her wand, doing the spell.
He continued to move his hand over her and then hooked his fingers in the edge of her knickers, glad she had made things easier for him and slid them down her body as he moved his hands down her body then to tease her slowly. He watched as she did the spell as he continued to touch her, wanting to make sure that she was perfectly ready even though that didn’t seem to be a problem in the least. Once she was finished doing the spell, he moved his lips back to hers and kissed her in a heated kiss and moved so he could move over her. He had originally thought about taking a bit more time but they both seemed ready and he craved connecting with her like that more than he could even begin to convey. He then moved to position himself so he could move into her and he pulled back from her lips slightly and met her eyes before kissing her again.
